Happenings

-----I am making a lemon liquer called limoncello. It will be ready for the next step on December 22nd. Right now I am fermenting the lemon zest in vodka....it has been eight of the forty days to ferment....I don't see any changes yet. Correct that: I opened the bottle today and sniffed....it smells abolutely wonderful and not at all like vodka....so, there has been a big change. (Recipe I am using)
-----If you ever photograph a kale flower....and most people don't....but anyway, it sure doesn't last long. Time to do some creative trimming so maybe I can take a few more photos. The kale starts going bad by the leaves turning a funny orange color & the white/green stem getting black bits. It has been totally indoors for the 2 or 3 days that I have had it....maybe if I cleaned it up & gave it a little sun. Lately, I try to keep everything "alive" long enough to root. :-)
-----I am making pasta tonight....fiori and penne mixed together.

Hi there,
Please keep us posted regarding the liquer, I would like to make an orange one based on your recipe, if you don't mind.
Cheers,

I will certainly keep you posted...I have posted a link to what recipe I decided on before. I just added it to this post.

I was inspired to start trying batches of limoncello by my mother-in-law....from a recipe by "The Barefoot Contessa."

I didn't have nearly as many lemons so I used less vodka. I am using 180-Proof vodka imported from England. I think my adjustment will work just fine.

There are so many variations on making limoncello. I like recipes that take the most loving effort & that I can understand....hence, my choice.

Please blog about your effort, too.
